Wilson Spencer Young was the first child of Spencer Young and Margaret Hale. Born in Drew county Arkansas May 4, 1869, he moved with his parents to Bell county in 1877. The family initially located at Troy but soon moved to Killeen where Wilson's father Spencer established the Tillar-Young ranch.
On August 2, 1891, he married Laura Lee Gregory, daughter of John A. Gregory and Mary E. (Mamie) Andrews. The Gregorys were residents of Florence, a community in the northern part of Williamson County. Laura's uncle was Frank Andrews, a noted attorney and businessman.

Wilson and Laura had five children:

Young Ranch House
The ranch house was located on what is now Young Circle in Killeen. This photo shows John Gregory, Laura Young's brother, studying a representative of the prairie dog colony which the family had established as a curiosity near the ranch house. An old camp meeting of the Church of Christ at the Nolanville camp ground circa 1907. Wilson Young is seated at the right of the table face turned toward the camera, his wife Laura is seated on the right side of the table, just to Wilson's left. The young woman on the far left seated in a rocking chair is their daughter Ruth. Spencer and Charles stand at the end of the table. Spencer is the taller of the boys, Charles is to Spencer's left. Sidney was an infant and is not pictured (family tradition holds that he was sleeping in the tent to the rear). The photograph was taken before the birth of Woodrow.
